Souris Motorcycle Riders
![]() The club was organized Dec. 9, 1984, in Minot, ND, over coffee. The riders attending those first gatherings were: Richard Becker, Carroll Albrightson, Fred Schultz, Jerry Olson, Mike Brunner and Ernie Lenertz. I served as sec.-treas. from 1984-1999 and president for many years later. Those members left in the club decided to dissolve in 2014. Ed Zumbaum was the president when the club folded. Ed has kept some of the group together for Wed. rides. The group got together for a breakfast meeting in the Spring. $5 per bike was paid for dues. A riding schedule was adopted at this time for the riding season. All motorcycle riders were welcomed to the club. At its peak about 25 couples belonged. Wednesday evening was the night the club members road out for supper. At the end of the season a picnic was held with the club buying the chicken. The last few years club members Joe and Carol Mitzel invited the club members to their RV storage building for the picnic. Christmas parties with presents were held in the early club years. Fred Schultz (left) passed away Mar. 30, 2002, Minot, ND. His wife Merna passed away Wed., April 2, 2014, Minot, N D. Fred was one of the charter members and club president for many years. Merna was always seen riding on the back of Fred's BMW. |
In the early days the club members purchased T-shirts. The project was put together by club member Richard Becker. He used his Yamaha for the bike.

Club Members Passing Away
Ernie Lenertz my Traveling Buddy for Many Years
Did we ever have fun on our motorcycle trips. All were safe. I can't say all the memories we can talk about.
Richard and Ernie are charter club members. Both at first meeting to organize club.
