Richard and Nan left Minot around 10 A.M. on a sunny warm Thursday, August 11, 1994, headed to Dickinson, ND. We stopped in New Town and checked on Bernie Sands (Nan's good friend) at the S & L Flower Shop, then on to 4 Bears to try our luck at the casino for just an hour.
 
Had to put our rain gear on about an hour outside of Dickinson, ND. Arrived in Dickinson, ND, around 4 P.M. Stayed at the Hospitality Inn.
 
On the road at 6 A.M., Friday, August 12, 1994, headed for Sturgis, SD, to checkout the annual motorcycle rally. We took ND 22 to SD 79. Arrived at Newell, SD, for gas and breakfast. Got to Sturgis, SD, around 10 A.M. on a sunny warm morning.  We spent most of the day checking out the rally. It was reported around 150,000 bikers were in the area during the week. Nan purchased a new leather jacket and some t-shirts.
 
We took Interstate 90 to Rapid City and checked into the Days Inn Motel on St. Joseph Street. Cleaned up and then around 6 P.M. headed up to Mt. Rushmore to see the faces. Took 16 to the faces and 244 to Hill City and back to Rapid City. Just a perfect evening for a motorcycle ride.
 
Saturday, August 13, 1994, saw us taking 44 (Rimrock Highway) to 385 and on to Deadwood, SD, for breakfast and an hours  worth of casino playing. Then it was back to Sturgis, SD, to ride the demo Harleys. Left Sturgis, SD, and took 90 to Spearfish Canyon to Leads, SD. Then took 385 to Needles Highway and around Custer State Park and on to Iron Mountain Road then back to Rapid City, SD, for the night.
 
Sunday, August 14, 1994, we checked out and headed for Deadwood, SD, and an hour at the casinos. Then it was on 14A headed for Sturgis, SD, and one last look at the rally. It was pretty much shut down.  Most of the vendors had already left and bikers where heading back home.
 
We arrived in Medora, ND, around 5 P.M., after a hot ride from Sturgis, SD. We checked into the Badlands Motel. Walked up town for supper. Went to the Medora musical  at 8:30. We sat in the 6th row up in the middle section. Was a great show and very nice weather.
 
Got up Monday, August 15, 1994, and walked up town for breakfast then on to Bismarck, ND. Stopped in Bismarck, ND, at the Shopping Center to rest and shop.  Arrived in Minot, ND, around 5 P.M.
 
A great trip and lovely weather.
