Don & Betty toasting.
Richard and Melody, Las Vegas, NV, and Don and Betty Skari, Minot, ND, departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fl., on the Holland America Line cruise ship Zuiderdam Sun., Mar. 19, 2017 around 4 PM. We came back to Fort Lauderdale, Fl. on Wed., Mar. 29, 2017 around 7 AM. During our ten day cruise we stopped at Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; Colon, Panama; Pureto Limon (San Jose), Costa Rica. We got off the ship at Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. They tendered us to shore at Half Moon Cay, which is owned by Holland Cruise. Here we walked around on our own. Eat at a buffet while listening to steel drum music. We did the open-air bus tour in Oranjestad, Aruba. At Willemstad, Curacao we walked around on our own and purchased some souvenirs. We got off the ship in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica and walked around on our own. Sat., Mar. 25, 2017, was the day we looked forward to and what the cruise was all about. In the morning we made our way through the Panama Canal, which took a few hours. We went through three lock systems, which was amazing to watch from Richard and Melody's balcony with Don and Betty while enjoying coffee and rolls. When we came through the other way we watched from open deck nine against the back railings. Great to watch the filling of each lock. Our time on the ship was spent around the pools relaxing with a book or listening to steel drum music. We used the ship computer during the day and our cell phone each time we stopped. The weather was great with only some rain at night with some strong winds. The food and entertainment was great. Most evenings we met for dinner in the dining area. Other meals we ate at a number of places serving different foods.
