2023 North Dakota Trip
Melody and I decided to fly to North Dakota this year for vacation instead of the long car drive. We spent July 17 – Aug. 7 in ND, visiting with family and friends. We again rented a little house in Mohall. Don Bessette Motors Minot, ND, had a Dodge van ready for us to use.

Melody was very greatful to find the bench for her parents placed at the Mouse River Park.
Thursday, July 21, family and friends gathered at the Mohall Cemetery for a memorial service for classmate Cinda (Laumeyer) Allen. Afterwards we gathered at Drink’s Bar in Mohall for a drink on Cinda. Four attended from our '63 class.
Friday, July 21 and Saturday July 22, we spent gathering with classes during the All Mohall High School Yellowjacket Reunion. It was a busy two days with a lot of activities crammed together. This was our class of 1963’s 60th reunion. Only five class members from our class showed for the two-day event. Our class members celebrated our 60th in July with the Zoom app. The streets around the City Park were lined with old cars and motorcycle. It's sad to report that Bill Brudvik (in a number of photos) passed away Tues., Aug. 22, 2023.
Sunday, July 23, I gathered with my cousins and their spouses at the Minot Country Club for dinner and fellowship. Alot of old memories were shared. June, Sally and Dale were missing.
Sunday, Aug. 1, my brother Jerry his wife Sandi, Melody and I drove to the International Peace Garden to check out the beautiful flowers. The International Peace Garden Border Crossing, also known as the Dunseith–Boissevain Border Crossing, is a crossing on the Canada–United States border connecting the towns of Boissevain, Manitoba and Dunseith, North Dakota. The border crossing is adjacent to the International Peace Garden, which was dedicated in 1932, just two years after this crossing was established as a port of entry. It is one of two ports of entry between Manitoba and North Dakota with 24-hour service.
The crossing is connected by U.S. Route 281 and North Dakota Highway 3 in Rolette County, North Dakota on the American side and Manitoba Highway 10 in the Municipality of Boissevain – Morton on the Canadian side. The entrance and exit to the Peace Garden is directly on the international border between the two border stations. This allows visitors to enter the park without reporting to either border station. Visitors are permitted unrestricted movement within the park but must go through the customs and immigration procedures in either country after leaving the garden. Then we drove over to Rugby to visit our oldest cousin June. The steel in the top row third to right came from the 911 event.

A lot of time was spent over meals with our families. Most of our family members continue to work, so evenings we got together. Some of eating place around the Mohall/Minot area we stopped at were Cabin Bar & Grill, Antler, ND, Naked Moose, Loraine, ND, Section 8 Bar, Upham, ND, Double Js, Mohall, ND, Minot Moose Club, Minot, ND, Paragon Café, Mohall, ND, Prairie Bistro, Mohall, ND, and the Mouse River Park Cafe.
I loved having coffee and fellowship with my old Minot coffee club members.
I also got together with some of my old motorcycle friends from Minot. (Below right is of the motorcycle group.) (The photo to the left and below are of my old Minot coffee group)

I spent a lot of time with my brother Jerry checking out what was going on out on the farm. This farm equipment is eye opening to me, since I’ve been away for so many years. My nephew Travis continues to manage the farm activities in such a good way.
Memorial on main street listing those local veterans having lost their lives.
