Our Jan. 7, 2016, Ride on the
High Roller Ferris Wheel in Las Vegas
High Roller Ferris Wheel in Las Vegas
Melody and I have driven past this High Roller many times and always said "never would we ride on this." While having dinner Thurs., Jan. 7, 2016, with out of town friends after attending the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) it was decided to (all) take the ride and view the pretty lights of the Strip and city. We both say now it was an amazing ride and would do it again. So, if you come to Vegas to visit us be prepared to go on this enjoyable ride. Local friend/relative Jane Drake was with us for dinner and the ride.

THE HIGH ROLLER AT THE LINQ
One of the most anticipated Las Vegas attractions, the massive, 550-foot rotating observation tower known as the High Roller. Far from your normal carnival Ferris wheel, the High Roller is so big that it takes a full 35 - 40 minutes for the wheel to complete a 360-degree rotation and is known as the world’s largest observation wheel. It spins and looks like a Ferris wheel. Each 44,000-pound, glass-enclosed pod can hold up to 40 people, includes music and video displays and has been decked out with thousands of LED lights. This big-time attraction serves as a sparkling focal point at the LINQ, one of Vegas’ newest shopping districts. Measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller eclipses both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south (parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard), it features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of the famed city. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people. There are benches on either side of the cabin, with plenty of floor space in between. EXPERT TIPS:
SPECIAL DEALS: Happy Half Hour: Your ticket includes one 30-40 minute ride and an open bar with unlimited beer and mixed drinks inside the cabin! Happy Half Hour cabins roll daily from Noon to 1 am with tickets starting at $37. Must be 21 or older to ride in a Happy Half Hour cabin. The High Roller is open from noon to 2 a.m. daily. Tickets are $24.95 during daylight hours and $34.95 at night. It can be found at the LINQ between the Flamingo and the Quad hotels—you can’t miss it. The Flamingo and Harrah’s both offer High Roller rooms with supreme views of the enormous structure. Show your local Nevada ID at the Box Office and receive more than 50% off your ticket purchase! |
